Voices from the Archive

Here’s where ancient science speaks. We’ve gathered a growing collection of texts — in standard editions and, when possible, in readable, free translations. But texts don’t write themselves. Alongside them, you’ll find the stories of those who did the writing: mathematicians, astronomers, physicians, philosophers. Some legendary, some forgotten, all worth meeting.

Take a look. Some of these minds haven’t spoken in centuries!

Didn’t find the name you were hoping for? It happens.

Not every author or work has made it into our list (yet), but there are excellent resources out there if you’d like to keep digging: the TLG, the PHI Latin Texts, Perseus, and Voci dal mondo antico all offer access to a wide range of ancient scientific sources. Some of them reveal even more if you're browsing with a VPN — just saying. The archive is always deeper than it first appears!
