Metrodorus
of Chios
A Presocratic with a flair for cosmic riddles. Metrodorus of Chios (fl. 5th century BCE) claimed that everything is an illusion — even the gods, if the fragments are to be believed. He dabbled in epistemology, mixing radical skepticism with metaphors that still sound cryptic today. “None of us knows anything — not even this” pretty much sums up the vibe. Almost nothing survives, but what does feels like a philosophical mic drop from deep antiquity.
