Diophanes

A name that survives more in fragments than in fact. Diophanes (dates and details unknown) is known solely through excerpts preserved in Heiberg’s Mathematici Graeci Minores. His work touches on agricultural topics, but no clear biography, region, or historical context accompanies the text. Whether he is the same Diophanes cited in Byzantine sources remains uncertain. What we have is a glimpse — a voice from the archive with more questions than answers, and a few lines still worth reading.
